KADENZER CHEVELLE
(PADDOCK NAME - chevelle OR BOOF)
KADENZER CHEVELLE is a Bay Standardbred Gelding standing 16.3hh and is 15 years old

Chevelle has been a valuable member of Leeanne's team (our Club Treasurer) stables for nearly eight years now. He is a loyal and trusted member of Leeanne's team .
When Leeanne first seen this horse he was in appalling condition and had actually been sent to the local knackery yard to be destroyed, but there was something about him that attracted Leeanne's eye and attention, and she saved his life as the day she approached the yard, Dunbar as he was known then was next on the killing line .............Leeanne was told if she could get near him and catch him then she could have him (the owner of the yard liked this horse and did not want to destroy him ), so with a kind voice and a bag of carrots Leeanne managed to catch him and so began a long friendship and partnership between horse and owner.
When Leeanne finally caught Chevelle, she soon realized the extent of the damage some cruel person had caused this magnificent animal and wasn't at all surprised why he had turned bad tempered and nasty towards humans...........the headstall that he was wearing was too small and had cut deeply into his nose and had been left so the skin was growing back across the noseband and the rug he had on was several sizes too small and the chest strap had cut deeply into his powerful chest.
After several months of TLC, gaining both Chevelle's trust and confidence, Chevelle realized that Leeanne wasn't going to hurt him and had his best interests in mind, slowly a bond and partnership formed between these two, even though Chevelle was a huge animal and Leeanne was tiny compared to him he began to trust her. Now when ever Leeanne goes to put a bridle or a headstall on him, Chevelle lowers his huge head to her hip so she doesn't have to stretch and silly as it sounds this big sook actually frets for Leeanne if she is away for more than two days.

As the show world as a small dislike to the Standardbred (because they have as unnatural gait -- The Pace)
Leeanne has mainly shown Chevelle in Breed shows where he has always been placed in the top three for his breed in both ridden and in hand classes and Leeanne and Chevelle are always placed in the top three in the Senior handler classes. Chevelle loves Leeanne so much that she could almost show him without a headstall and he walks, and trots at her side and stops when she does just by following Leeannes' body commands.

Leeanne also teaches people to ride using Chevelle and he is a fabulous horse for giving nervous riders their confidence as he is such a gentleman ...but this old man knows every trick in the book and also has a habit of putting cocky riders in their place (on the dirt) as he doesn't like being pushed around or a person that is a hard rider (Leeanne spoils him ) .
Chevelle is also an excellent horse for teaching people how to drive a horse in harness as he is such a gentleman in both harness and under saddle.
Leeanne's housemate Phil drives Chevelle a lot in harness as he's not comfortable riding horses, but has had many hours enjoyment with Chevelle in harness. Having play races and playing in the bush with Leeanne riding one her team, and because of this Leeanne's horses aren't frightened when they come across a Pacer or another horse in harness being worked in the bush as many saddle horses are by a horse in harness
